Lesley-Anne Doole is a British artist originally from the Cotswolds. She now spends her time between her homes in Spain and the UK. She is currently living in Fifield, Oxfordshire.
She describes her paintings as bold depictions of the interplay of the magical changing light on her subjects of water, nature, declivities of landscapes and underwater-scapes. A keen scuba diver, she has been diving all over the world.
Her recent works now keep the 'subject' at a distance preferring her work to be simpler and purer in the sense of it being non-referential, a bold display of colours to record her fleeting experiences, often abstract and always spontaneous and uncompromising. She mainly uses acrylic paint which is kinder to the planet by using fewer chemicals and also enjoys the speed in drying time, being able to over paint rapidly. "I feel liberated by my somewhat explosive, sometimes risky, painting style but there still has to be a balance, no matter how daring, there has to be a sense of space, colour and shape; there still has to be discipline and structure and this does not happen by chance but by hard work".
Lesley-Anne or LA as she is known by her friends has also always enjoyed painting realistic portraits of both people and animals so please feel free to contact her if you would like to discuss a commission.
She has sold all over the world exhibiting in London, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Africa and her local area, the Cotswolds. Lesley-Anne undertakes both private and commercial commissions and would be happy to discuss any aspect of her work.
